So you've scrolled through Instagram and spotted someone with perfect waves. It looks so effortlessly natural yet every hair falls perfectly into place. How did she get her hair to sit like that? (Hint: It's a Blow wave.)

Blow waving is the process of styling hair from wet to dry, with the finished look lasting for up to a week. The process involves a deep wash, the use of a conditioner and detangler and a very talented stylist to blow dry and brush your hair in a very controlled way, allowing for it to 'set' in a style that will last, locking in that shape and shine.

Thinking about giving a blow wave a try? Our blow-wave magician, Georgia, is offering a very special price for this month. Our July Blow Wave Package includes a wash and 4 stand alone blow waves or waves/curls. Our Sale price for this month only - $100 (valued at $230). Package purchase redeemable within 6 months of purchase. Contact us on (03) 9331 3777 or shoot us a Facebook message to secure your booking!

There's nothing more satisfying than the final mirror inspection of your freshly styled hair, knowing you're about to face the world looking your absolute best.

There's nothing more devastating than two-minutes after leaving the house and a small gust of wind decides to take creative control of your hair. All that time spent pinning and styling every last little hair into place... wasted.

To prevent moments like these from occurring, I always recommend using a hair lacquer to lock down your style and prevent total devastation. Unfortunately, there are a lot of hairsprays out there that don't live up to exceptions, often leaving your hair feeling clumpy or crispy and resulting in needing a deep wash to remove all the residue.

The Style Fix Brush Out Lacquer by Keune, for example, is a much more suitable alternative for many clients as the addition of Pro-vitamin B5 nourishes your hair and prevents too much build up of product. Once you're ready to call it day, this product can simply be brushed out leaving little to no flakes - making it perfect for daily usage.

If you want to give the Keune Style Fix Brush Out Lacquer a go, now's the perfect opportunity with our special July price of $10. (RRP: $18). Contact us on (03) 9331 3777 or shoot us a Facebook message to get yours!

If you’ve been in a salon for at least 5 minutes, I’m sure you’ve heard the term ‘balayage’ used. For the uninitiated, what does this actually mean? Well, the word balayage is actually French, translating to ‘sweep’ or ‘sweeping’. In hairdresser’s terms, balayage is a technique used to create a soft gradient of colour through the hair, getting lighter towards the tips. A colourist will hand paint these highlights on, creating a subtle and natural sunkissed look.

Why consider a balayage over flat colour? Well firstly, the difference in colour a balayage adds gives the hair more depth, the use of light and shade creates dimension. Another reason is because of it’s easy maintenance. As opposed to more traditional hair colouring techniques that require frequent touchups, the natural look of a balayage allows it to look flawless at any stage - even after your hair has grown out a bit. This makes it loved by many women who want to experiment with variation of tone without the constant need for touch-ups.

If you’re interested in treating yourself to a fresh new look, Matea has got you covered. For the month of June, we’re offering a Balayage Colour Package at a special price. Receive a balayage colour treatment, toner, luxury hot towel, customised hair mask, styled blow wave and take home hair care maintenance mask (valued at $335) for only $275. Offer only available for June bookings. Bookings can be made through our website or on (03) 9331 3777. $50 non refundable deposit is required to secure booking.
